Liffey Partnership

Project overview

Liffey Partnership (formerly Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership) was established in 1996 as a response to long term unemployment and poverty in the area. They host and support a range of programmes dedicated to employment, education, community, enterprise, parenting, health and wellbeing.

They asked us to help them with a re-brand and new website. Their previous name (Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership) had been a cornerstone of their identity since the very beginning. It accurately described who they were and where they were located. As they continued to expand however, delivering more services to more areas, the time had come for a new name – one that reflected their wider footprint.

This was one the most interesting and rewarding projects we’ve been involved in lately. It wasn’t easy and the deadline was tight, but there was a lot of goodwill and tenacity on both sides, so everything turned out well. The new brand and website were officially launched by the Lord Mayor of Dublin in the Mansion House which was a nice day out.

The first thing we had to do was come up with a new name for the organisation. Their old name was no longer a suitable fit. It was confusing and limited. Also, the logo was inconsistent in its usage and unclear in its messaging. They needed a complete makeover and fresh start.

After much research and careful consideration, we presented a long list and then a short list of suitable names, complete with a brand story for each so they could see how the name could be substantiated. After some toing and froing, we finally settled on ‘Liffey Partnership’.

As follows is the Brand Story we wrote about Liffey Partnership

In the heart of our vibrant communities, Liffey Partnership symbolises and collaboration. Just as the River Liffey weaves its way through the heart of Dublin, our organisation flows through the lives of the communities we serve, connecting people with opportunities and with each other.

Our story is one of connection and empowerment. Liffey Partnership is dedicated to bridging gaps, building bridges, and fostering unity, all towards a shared future built on the principle of equity. We understand the vital role that connections play in creating sustainable and inclusive communities.

As a community-led local development company, our mission is clear: to be the link that brings people together to work for a fair and just society for all. Through our work, we strengthen bonds between individuals and neighbourhoods, providing a path for diverse voices to be heard, respected, and celebrated.

Liffey Partnership celebrates unity, diversity, and the power of collaboration. Just as the river is a powerful symbol of life, Liffey Partnership works with people at every life stage, helping them find the support they need to thrive. Together, we flow like the River Liffey, connecting communities, building bridges, and creating a stronger, more equal, and more interconnected future.

Once the new name and brand story were approved, the task of designing a new logo was relatively quick and easy. We presented a number of options which they really liked before settling on the one below. As you can see, we kept it nice and simple, with a clean colour palette and graphic design.

In the client's own words

Liffey Partnership engaged Passion for Creative to undertake a comprehensive rebranding of our organisation, including developing a new name, new brand identity, promotional materials, and a website. From the start to the end of the project, we found Jill, Dan, and all the team at Passion for Creative a pleasure to work with. They took the time to connect with our organisation and develop a comprehensive understanding of our ethos, values, and what we were hoping to communicate through our new brand. Like all projects, there were delays (on our end) and times of urgency, and we found Passion for Creative to be understanding, responsive, accommodating and flexible in meeting our needs at every stage of the process. We are delighted with the finished product, and the response to our new brand has been overwhelmingly positive from a wide variety of our organisation’s stakeholders. We would have no hesitation in highly recommending Passion for Creative to any organisation undertaking a similar project.
